What is Biblical discipleship?
Jesus and the twelve. Paul and Timothy. Barnabas and John Mark. Biblical discipleship is the process of a more mature believer investing their life and the word of God into another believer. It is THE WORK Christ sent his disciples out to accomplish (John 17:18).
All disciples are believers, but not all believers are disciples. A believer has called upon the name of the Lord unto salvation according to the Gospel; a disciple makes the personal choice to follow the Lord and walk with Him all the days of their life (John 8:31). To grow into spiritual maturity. The first step to becoming a disciple of Christ is to count the cost (Luke 14:27-33). Following Christ is a lifelong learning process. Discipleship is not a program, but rather the ministry Christ left the church to carry out.
Discipleship is at the heart of everything we do at Mission Harvest Baptist Church. We use Biblical discipleship to invest in the lives of our local church members and establish them in four basic biblical goals:
1. Establish the believer in the Word of God and in Prayer
2. Establish the believer in Worship by Living to Bring God Glory
3. Establish the believer in the Ministry of the Local Church and in the Fellowship of Believers
4. Establish the believer in the Ministry of Jesus Christ (Evangelism & Discipleship)
