What is the gospel?

The word “gospel” simply means good news—and it truly is the best news you’ll ever hear! The gospel is the message of what God has done to rescue and restore humanity to himself through Jesus Christ.

First the bad news: all people have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard.  That's right: there's not one person on Earth who is on good terms with God outside naturally.  We are all suffer from a terminal disease that separates us from Him: Sin.

  Now the good news: God, in His great love, sent His Son, Jesus, to live a sinless life, die on the cross in our place, and rise again to offer forgiveness and eternal life (Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:3-4).  Believing on the truth of the Gospel and calling upon God to save you because of the work that Christ already did on the cross is all that God asks of you to be right with Him (Rom. 10:9,13).

Through faith in Jesus, we can be forgiven, made new, and brought into a personal relationship with God. The Gospel isn’t just about what happens after we die—it transforms our lives here and now.

how to receive the good news

The good news of the bible is the sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was an atonement made for the sins of all mankind and is freely available and accessible to all.

Admit that you have sinned.

We begin first by accepting the bad news that we are sinners and separated from God.
Is. 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you...
Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23a  For the wages of sin is death...

Believe that God has made a way to save you through His Son Jesus.

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23b  ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

CONFESS Jesus as your Lord.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
