What is the gospel?
The word “gospel” simply means good news—and it truly is the best news you’ll ever hear! The gospel is the message of what God has done to rescue and restore humanity to himself through Jesus Christ.
First the bad news: all people have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard. That's right: there's not one person on Earth who is on good terms with God outside naturally. We are all suffer from a terminal disease that separates us from Him: Sin.
Now the good news: God, in His great love, sent His Son, Jesus, to live a sinless life, die on the cross in our place, and rise again to offer forgiveness and eternal life (Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:3-4). Believing on the truth of the Gospel and calling upon God to save you because of the work that Christ already did on the cross is all that God asks of you to be right with Him (Rom. 10:9,13).
Through faith in Jesus, we can be forgiven, made new, and brought into a personal relationship with God. The Gospel isn’t just about what happens after we die—it transforms our lives here and now.
